The FBI is the primary investigative arm of the
United States Department of Justice. The FBI has
investigative jurisdiction of over 260 violations of
federal law. FBI activities include investigations
into foreign-intelligence operations and espionage,
cyber-based and technology crimes, public
corruption, civil-rights violations, transnational
and national criminal organizations/enterprises,
white collar crime, bribery, copyright matters, bank
robbery, extortion, kidnapping, air piracy, fugitive
and drug trafficking matters and other violations of
federal statutes. The FBI also works with other
federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in
investigating matters of joint interest and in
training law enforcement officers at the FBI
